Yesterday, Leah slipped on ice while holding Avery and somehow managed to break Avery's femur. 1 pediatrician visit, 2 emergency rooms, 2 x-rays, 2 shots of morphine, a new "Plaster of Paris" leg, and 11 hours later, Avery was finally able to eat some food and head for her bed. She is doing fine and trying to adjust to having only one leg to get around.
That bend isn't supposed to be there! Luckily, the "buckle" fracture is not effecting the growth plate. The doctor says she'll make a full recovery and never know she even had a broken leg.
Getting around isn't as easy as it was yesterday, but she seems to be doing just fine getting to where she wants to go.
Poor girl! We'll find out in a week if she has to stay with the brace or get a new cast. The doctors wanted the swelling to go down before they made that decision.
Ethan had a little accident too. He and his friend, Nate, decided it was a good idea to start at opposite ends of the park and run as fast as they could toward each other until they crashed a couple of trucks together. The cars had to go somewhere and I guess Ethan's face was their destination. Hard lesson learned.
"It doesn't hurt. I'm so tough. Grrrrrr!"
